Home fragrances are primarily classified as chemical mixtures and are therefore subject to the provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. However, depending on the composition of the product, the method of use, and the contents of the packaging, some home fragrances pose a health risk and may even cause physical injury.
In such cases, additional requirements apply to the products:
- In addition to the usual labelling elements, the packaging must bear the UFI code and the mixture must be notified to the ECHA system.
- A notification must be submitted to the EU Poison Information Centres (PCN) database.
- When supplying a product to the Lithuanian market, it is mandatory to report to the AIVIKS system the chemical substances or mixtures manufactured, imported, placed on the market, and/or used in industrial, professional, or other economic activities during the calendar year, as well as their quantities.
Product notification helps to ensure that the responsible authorities are transparently informed about the chemical substances and mixtures supplied to the population, and that in the event of an accident or poisoning, healthcare professionals can determine how to help the affected person. Failure to complete this procedure correctly or in full may result not only in fines, product withdrawal from the market, and reputational damage, but also in a threat to the health and lives of consumers if they are not provided with the necessary assistance due to a lack of information.
Considering the specifics of the product, EU legislation, and requirements applicable at the national level, we provide the following services:
- We generate a UFI code.
- We submit the necessary notifications to EU Poison Control Centres (PCNs) and the Integrated Computerised Environmental Information Management System (AIVIKS in Lithuania, LVGMC in Latvia).
- We ensure legal compliance when implementing multilateral projects.
